Easy Recipe to Cook With Kids
Recently, the kids were bored one afternoon, I was hungry and I got them involved in making Cheese Straws.
Its really easy, they can actually help and if it all goes wrong you haven't wasted a whole heap of expensive ingredients.
So the recipe we used was:
60g Butter
3/4 Cup Crated Cheese
3/4 Cup Plain Flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tablespoon Cold water
Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Cream butter and Cheese - let the kids have a go too
Add flour salt and water
Turn dough onto floured surface (let them roll it around a bit)
Then make it into a square and wrap dough in grease-proof paper and put in fridge for one hour
When its ready, roll it out and cut into strips that are about 5mm thick.
Ours were delicious but a bit dodgy looking when they came out as I'm not a very neat 'cutter'
The kids had fun though and they are an easy, cheap snack that isn't filled with preservatives etc.
Yummy
