Weekend Getaway - Glasshouse Mountains - Highwood Park Guest House Maleny

It was my partners birthday on Saturday and it's a bit of a ritual for us to have a weekend away together on each others birthday. Over the years we've stayed in some great places and we absolutely love the Sunshine Coast but this weekend was definitely my favourite getaway.

It's not often you go somewhere and you're completely bowled over, by the venue and the service.
We stayed at Highwood Park Guest Lodge in Maleny, which is in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The area itself is vast and green and out of this world beautiful.

We pulled up to this 32 acre property and immediately looked in awe at the stunning views. We met David who gave us a tour of the property and showed us through to our room, he poured us glasses of wine on arrival and left us to relax in our beautifully decorated suite. The decor is not something you see a lot of in this country. It was very English, very classic and very posh. With antique chairs, beautiful wooden furniture and thick curtains with pelmets.

At the end of the bed was a big sliding glass door and we could see for miles, all the way to the Sunshine Coast ocean.

The first thing we did after unloading our bags was have a dip in the gorgeous infinity pool, looking over the hinterlands and Mt Tibrogargan.

We stayed in the Belvedere suite and the bed was super comfortable. There's something about being surrounded by nature that just makes you sleep better. I've been really stressed out lately and I feel like just escaping to the country and being outside makes you feel 100 times better.

I woke up around seven and stepped outside our room into the little garden and did a little yoga workout, I had the perfect space and view to look out on as I did it.

Then at 8am we were served with the most impressive breakfast. I am into breakfasts in a big way. I get really excited about being brought breakfast and I did not shut up about this for a good hour or two after we'd left. Not only was it brought to us on a tray to our room, with a vase of fresh pink roses (my favourite) we were then served a hot breakfast afterwards. Needless to say all of it was delicious.

Every single detail of the whole experience was thought out and done with class. The hosts, David and Dean were so lovely, offering us drinks, DVDS and even books, they never made you feel like anything was too much trouble.

I spent a good few hours on Sunday morning lounging around and reading 'The picture of Dorian Gray' because there was endless stacks of literary classics. Basically everything about the whole experience was perfect and I cannot recommend it enough.

Thank you so much to David and Dean for making our stay so amazing. It was much appreciated
